Urgent! Secretary Needed and Committee Chairs for Next Year’s PTSA Board

We appreciate the families who have reached out to help with next year’s PTSA and the nominating committee will be announcing the slate of candidates prior to our June 2 meeting! We are still looking to fill one more officer role to be elected by the general membership:

  • Secretary: Responsible for taking minutes during board and general meetings, and assisting with developing agendas for each meeting.

We also need several standing committee chairs for next year who will sit on the Board of Directors:

  • Communications: Work with the VP for Communications & Events to publish the weekly newsletter and post on WhatsApp and social media. This role could be split among several volunteers so please reach out if you are interested.
  • Transition: Support CJMS as it prepares for any future changes in feeder school patterns and coordinate with impacted elementary schools and Hoover MS to ensure families are supported through any future transitions.

If you are interested, please reach out to Debbie Fleischer at president@cabinjohnptsa.org

Tomorrow 5/29 – Last Day to Complete School of Excellence Survey

A strong partnership among our families, school leaders and community members is important to the success of our students and school. That’s why the CJMS Parent Teacher Student Association is participating in the National PTA School of Excellence program, which grows partnerships between PTAs and schools to enrich the educational experience and overall well-being of all students.

2026 Excellence Action Plan: In the fall, we requested feedback from families, teachers and administrators. We’ve also met with parents, 20+ students, and the SGA to hear more about what would be helpful. Based on this information, we’ve built an Excellence Action Plan to strengthen family-school partnerships that we will continue to implement next year. This includes holding additional events to engage students/families next year, supporting opportunities for parents to engage with the school on course selection, and meeting with student PTSA members and the SGA.

Help us complete our School of Excellence application! As part of the process outlined by National PTA, we must distribute a second survey for additional feedback.

COMPLETE SURVEY HERE

Please take 5-10 minutes to reflect on your experience at this school and complete this survey. Please complete this survey by Friday, May 29, 2026. If you have any questions, please email Debbie Fleischer at president@cabinjohnptsa.org

Nominees for Next Year’s CJMS PTSA Board

As we look to next year, we’re seeking parents and caregivers to fill open board positions. We have established a nominating committee consisting of Karen Lust, Amanda Klueger, and Jamie Maier. These PTSA members will help present a slate of candidates for election.

With upcoming changes to our feeder elementary schools, it’s especially important that we have strong representation from all four elementary schools. This year we did not have a representative from the Seven Locks Community and we would really like that to change for next year. Your involvement will help ensure a smooth transition, promote inclusive decision-making, and help maintain continuity within our community. Please consider getting involved—your voice and perspective are important.

Several board members are interested in continuing to serve and will run for re-election. We are excited to have a nominee for treasurer! We are actively recruiting for the following open Board of Directors positions for next year:

  • VP for Communication & Events – This individual helps oversee committees for our communication channels and individual committees for events such as the Back to School Picnic and Multicultural Night.
  • VP for School Support – This is a new role added in our recent bylaw update. This person will help oversee the committees for student affairs, after school programs, teacher appreciation, and the Reflections Art contest.
  • Communications Chair – Working with the VP for Comms & Events, this individual coordinates communication and supports our weekly Cougar Clips newsletter.
  • Membership Chair – Working with the VP for Membership & Fundraising, this individual helps to promote and track membership.

Please reach out to Debbie Fleischer at president@cabinjohnptsa.org if you are interested in discussing a role in our PTSA.
