Updates on Nominees for Next Year’s CJMS PTSA Board

As we look to next year, we’re seeking parents and caregivers to fill open board positions. We have established a nominating committee consisting of Karen Lust, Amanda Klueger, and Jamie Maier. These PTSA members will help present a slate of candidates for election.

With upcoming changes to our feeder elementary schools, it’s especially important that we have strong representation from all four elementary schools. This year we did not have a representative from the Seven Locks Community and we would really like that to change for next year. Your involvement will help ensure a smooth transition, promote inclusive decision-making, and help maintain continuity within our community. Please consider getting involved—your voice and perspective are important.

Several board members are interested in continuing to serve and will run for re-election. We are excited to have a nominee for treasurer! We are actively recruiting for the following open Board of Directors positions for next year:

  • VP for Communication & Events – This individual helps oversee committees for our communication channels and individual committees for events such as the Back to School Picnic and Multicultural Night.
  • VP for School Support – This is a new role added in our recent bylaw update. This person will help oversee the committees for student affairs, after school programs, teacher appreciation, and the Reflections Art contest.
  • Communications Chair – Working with the VP for Comms & Events, this individual coordinates communication and supports our weekly Cougar Clips newsletter.
  • Membership Chair – Working with the VP for Membership & Fundraising, this individual helps to promote and track membership.

Please reach out to Debbie Fleischer at president@cabinjohnptsa.org if you are interested in discussing a role in our PTSA.

That’s a wrap on Teacher Appreciation Week!

This week, CJMS rolled out the red carpet for the incredible staff of Cabin John Middle School and we were happy to play a role! From blockbuster lessons to award-worthy support, our teachers and staff are the true stars behind the scenes who make CJMS shine every day. Whether they’re directing classroom productions, inspiring future stars, solving last-minute plot twists, or cheering on every student, our educators deserve standing ovations all week long. We could not be more grateful.

Throughout the week, staff enjoyed breakfast, daily treats, and an international lunch.  From staff superlatives to iced coffee, we hope that all staff felt our appreciation. It was a collaborative effort among the school administration, PTSA, and the CJMS community to make it happen!

The PTSA would like to thank the administration team for their partnership in planning and executing the week, and give a special shout out to Ms. Mudrock, Ms. Moore, and the front office staff. We also want to acknowledge the cafeteria staff and building services for helping us out! Our appreciation efforts were led by Rachel Azoff and Debbie Fleischer, with help from Claire Andrews, Denise Shainker, Jessica McClellan, Alex Downey, Rachael Datch, Stephanie Udler, Patty Otero, and Peggie Rice. Big thanks to past PTSA president Yen Wang for coming back to CJMS to help with the international lunch to keep the CJMS traditions going!

A huge thank you to all the families for helping make this celebration possible through donations of food, drinks, or money! Your generosity helps us create a memorable week worthy of the big screen!

Together as One – An Unforgettable Evening of Community, Culture and Connection

Our Cabin John community truly came together in the most meaningful way by celebrating the vibrant cultures, traditions, and talents that make our school so special. It was incredible to “travel the world” right here at CJMS, connecting with one another, learning, and sharing in the joy of our diverse global community. Moments like these highlight not only what makes each of us unique but also the strong connections that bring us all together.

We are so grateful to our parent, student, and staff volunteers who helped make our event so special by hosting country tables, sharing talents and helping to bring the cultures from around the world to life. A special thank you to co-chairs Joanne D’Souza and Heather Braswell-Ho for leading this incredible event and for co-chairs Georgia Karamalikis, Amy Yang, and Radha Rohatgi, for their support and teamwork in helping make this unforgettable evening possible. We would also like to extend our sincere appreciation to Mrs. Bowman, Ms. Bonig, the Minority Scholars Program students, Mrs.Morales de Guardado, Mr. Moore, Mr. Berman and our building staff for their contributions in helping make this celebration such a success.

Events like this remind us just how strong we are as a community when we come together. Thank you all for making Multicultural Night such a joyful, memorable, and meaningful celebration!
