CJMS to Show “Upstanders” Film on 3/24 with Discussion
Please Join CJMS to view a powerful new documentary, Upstanders, that explores many of the challenges our students/children face as they grow up in a digital world.
This will be our PTSA meeting for March (in lieu of 3/10)
The Upstanders explores cyber-bullying, bullying among friends, families, co-workers and the brain science behind it all.
The film highlights new laws and programs already reducing bullying in schools and shows us how we can learn to make a difference together to create systemic change.
The Upstanders is the third in a trilogy and a follow-up to IndieFlix Foundation’s highly-successful films, such as the recently released, LIKE a documentary about the impact of social media on our lives and, Angst: Raising Awareness About Anxiety. See the trailer here: https://www.theupstanders.com/
WHEN: March 24th, 7:00 PM
WHERE: CJMS All Purpose Room (Cafeteria) WHO: Parents, Students and Community Members A discussion of the topic and the steps CJMS and MCPS are taking to address the issue will follow the presentation.

Headed to Churchill Next Year? Meeting on 3/17
From the Churchill PTSA:
March 17 – PTSA Meeting: Churchill 101 for New Families – We will be welcoming our incoming Churchill families to participate in Q&A from current parents and students – we will try to help them learn a bit about the school culture to help everyone make a good adjustment next fall, and not be wondering (or worrying) about student life details over the summer! Q&A to include such items as: How do you join clubs? What is DECA? How do the Athletics and Booster Clubs work? When are auditions? How does lunch work? What do counselors do? Do I use a locker? etc. Please invite specific families you know who will be at Churchill next year! We will also send out invitations to Hoover and Cabin John families. Please think of attending with your student to give a helpful overview to incoming students and their parents who will attend.
