The CJMS Model United Nations Club is open to all 6th, 7th and 8th graders. Model UN teaches students public speaking skills, conflict management skills, research and analysis, and expands students’ understanding of global issues. The program is supported by the United Nations Association – USA of the National Capital Area and is organized through Global Classroom DC (GCDC).
Students will have the opportunity to attend at least two conferences; a Training Conference ($20) on November 15, 2018 at the Pan American Health Organization in Washington, DC and a Spring Model UN Conference ($45) on May 1, 2019 at the U.S Department of State. Seasoned Model UN students will also have the opportunity to participate in the GWCIA XXIII – Greater Washington Conference on International Affairs ($30) on November 17, 2018 at Georges Washington University.
Attending students will be absent from school on these days and transportation is not provided. Financial aid is available. Parent volunteers are welcomed.
