We have a couple interested parents for this new program. We just need a few more helping hands to get this program off the ground. Please let us know if you can help. Even if its just a bit. Many coaches will make this an awesome program for the kids and light work for the parents!
Recruiting COACHES for this NEW program below – If we get coaches then we will send info about signing up your daughter.
Contact Caitlin Furey ([email protected]) if you are interested in coaching.
Girls on Track Adventure is a program that was created in partnership with Calleva. Over the years, we have found that girls in middle school are looking for more physical activity than what is found in the traditional Girls on Track curriculum. Our new Adventure program still focuses on empowerment and team building, but it includes a wider range of activities, including trail running, mountain biking, and canoeing. The season is ten weeks long (March-May). At the end of the season, we will have an Adventure Race, sponsored by Calleva, which incorporates all of the activities.
The price is $400 per girl, because the program includes activities that require a lot of equipment (mountain biking, canoeing, ropes courses). Coach daughters are FREE (or, if the coach commits to attending practice once a week, $200). Calleva provides ALL equipment, and they provide a bus for all off-campus activities.
Team size is limited to 12 girls due to bus capacity.
1 GOTR coach needs to be present at each practice (2-2.5 hours, twice a week). GOTR coaches are usually parents or teachers, although we do have some community volunteers as well. Calleva will send 2 coaches to each practice. Practices will vary in length of time needed (for example, 2.5 hours will be needed for days that the bus takes the team to the water for canoeing, but maybe only 1.5 hours would be needed on a trail running day). The season will start at the end of March and go until the end of May/early June. This is due to the possibility of snow at the beginning of March (think last winter!!!).
The girls receive technical tees and camelbacks, which they will use during the Adventure Race at the end of May.
We are VERY EXCITED to be expanding this program in the spring. The girls who participated in Spring 2014 LOVED it, and so did the coaches! Feel free to give me a call, if you want to discuss over the phone. I know it’s a lot of information! We are trying to have our 4 teams confirmed by December 23rd.
