“The World Would Be A Better Place If…” …if our Montgomery County Reflections artists were in charge!
Once again, our young artists—whether dancers, filmmakers, writers, musicians, photographers or visual artists, astounded and inspired. Their beliefs, dreams, humor and inspiring messages overwhelmed our judges. I cannot fully nor properly relay the comments and praise they had about how much they appreciate the thought, creativity and passion that the entries possess. They are amazed by our students, and love sharing their impressions. The MCCPTA judges are truly invested in our children and their futures.
It is never an easy task to choose winners, but after much thought and consideration, judges awarded three Awards of Excellence for Outstanding Interpretation of the Theme in each division and category. These winning entries move on to the Maryland State competition where they will compete against winning students from participating counties in the state of Maryland in the same category/division.
Three Award of Merit winners are also recognized in each category/division, but those entries do not move on in the competition.
All entries that entered at the county level will be displayed at the MCCPTA Gallery and Award Ceremony (date and time to be announced). Only those students who achieved an Award for Outstanding Interpretation of the Theme or an Award of Merit (Honorable Mention) will be acknowledged at the Ceremony and in the program. Chairs will be provided an invitation to extend to each student who entered the competition at the county level. It is incumbent on each school chair to invite all of their school’s county participants to attend.
Whether a student won an award or not, they should know that there was great appreciation for their unique and personal art. Their talent is overwhelming, and their enthusiasm for the arts is what keeps this program exciting and fun. I hope every student who entered Reflections continues to create art for a long time to come.
On behalf of the Montgomery County PTA, it is my pleasure to announce the 2014-2015 Montgomery County PTA Reflections Awards of Excellence for Outstanding Interpretation of the Theme and Award of Merit winners for this year’s Reflections program.
Please share this information with every student who participated in this program, as well as your school principal and PTA president, along with my congratulations and gratitude.
Good luck to all of our Award of Excellence winners who are moving on to the Maryland State competition! We hope to be able to share good news with you when the state decisions are announced.
