The CJMS PTSA supported two teams going to World Championships for Odyssey of the Mind competition this year in Michigan.
Team #1 was led by Ravi Harapanhalli – “And the team did well and was able to place 230 lbs of weight on the structure. Their skit was based on historic “Celtic Queen Bourdicca and the Tree of Life.” Their costumes and presentation was well received. However, they ranked 40th out of 50 teams and the highest weight held was 1410 lbs. A few mistakes were made by our team while placing weights and they learned from those mistakes and came back motivated to improve.”
Team #2 was led by – Merydedd Evans. They got 19th in their category world wide. “We had so much fun. We had a Korean buddy team, who taught them about Korean history, and they played football and frisbee. We also saw many other performances. However, the two big highlights for our team: pin trading and building sleepover forts that the team slept in each night (in a college dorm room–chairs and blankets made the fort).”
Thanks so much to the parents who led the teams and all the parent volunteers and the kids and families who participated. Congratulations to everyone for a job well done.
