In mid-December Cabin John middle school submitted 11 entries to the Montgomery County level of judging for the National PTA Arts Reflections program. The Montgomery County PTA assembled a panel of judges to review all of the county entries to select the top three to go on to the state level for the National PTA’s Art Reflections program. The top three per category (literature, visual art, etc.) were awarded the following awards:
- Award of Excellence for Outstanding Interpretation of the Theme (top)
- Award of Merit for Interpretation of the Theme (second)
- Honorable Mention Award (third)
I’m thrilled to announce that Cabin John Middle School 8th grade student Iris J. Yang was awarded the Award of Excellence for Outstanding Interpretation of Theme for the Visual Arts Category within the Middle School Division for her piece “Practiced Melody.” This is first place within Montgomery County. Iris’s work will move on to the Maryland State level of judging. Congratulations to Iris and all of our artists who participated in this program.
