Celebrate National Arts in Education Week from September 14 through September 18.
This is a resolution passed by the US House of Representatives promoting the arts in the classroom as “an essential element of a complete and balanced education for all students.” The Reflections teams are using it as a way to promote awareness for the arts and the Reflections program.
As you celebrate, here are some ideas to help flex your creative muscles for the upcoming Reflections Art Contest:
Monday: Dance Choreography. Make your own dance step and teach it to your friends.
Tuesday: Film Production. Shoot an alternative version of your favorite movie scene.
Wednesday: Literature. Begin a story. Let someone else continue it. Take turns adding to the story. Watch the novel unfold.
Thursday: Music Composition. Tap out a rhythm. Add a melody. Build up with harmony.
Friday: Photography & Visual Arts. Frame an object or scene in a way that makes it unidentifiable. Take the photograph.
Any new, creative work inspired by the Reflections Theme, “Let Your Imagination Fly,” is eligible for entry in the Reflections Art Contest. For more information on Reflections, please contact [email protected].
