Cabin John Middle School PTSA 2014-2015
On behalf of the Cabin John Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA), I would like to welcome all incoming 6th grade parents and returning parents to the 2014-2015 school year. I am both excited and humbled by the opportunity and responsibility to lead our PTSA as we continue to improve and strengthen the support the PTSA offers Cabin John Middle School as a way to provide an excellent experience to our middle school students. While we hope your family is having a relaxing, fun‐filled summer, the school is gearing up for another great year. The PTSA would also like to welcome our new assistant principle Ms. Sweta Zaks as we are looking forward to working with her. Our PTSA is strong and has a great executive board in place and we are very excited to continue to have some of the great programs we have offered in the past and to continue to improve and expand our support to the administration, the teachers, and students. We have also revamped our website to be more interactive and provide you with the most recent news and events that are happening at Cabin John (www.cabinjohnptsa.org).
Listed below is some very important information about how you can support and participate in the PTSA, we can’t do this without your help and we are very grateful for all the parents’ support, time, and generosity!
* Join the PTSA (Membership Form or online) Joining the PTSA is the best way to meet other parents, get to know teachers, and find out what’s going on at Cabin John Middle School. Studies show that kids of parents who are involved with their children’s school do better academically. And, your dues and tax‐deductible donations support all of the activities the PTSA sponsors to support our staff and enrich our students’ academic and social experiences. Your membership makes a difference!
* Our new and improved PTSA Meetings: We have worked hard over the summer to invite dynamic speakers who will address relevant topics that are focused on improving our relationship with our kids and ensuring their safety. Our first PTSA meeting is at Back to School Night on September 2nd, and I encourage you to check out our website for future dates and topics of all PTSA meetings.
* PTSA E‐Mail Subscription Service and Facebook: The PTSA uses this service to send out important information. Get weekly PTSA news delivered to your inbox and learn more about upcoming events – stay connected to your child’s school! To sign up go to the Cabin John PTSA website’s “Stay Informed” area and subscribe. We also have a Cabin John Middle School PTSA Facebook page, so please like us on Facebook so you can get the latest updates, news and pictures of school events.
* Volunteer Opportunities! We have some committee chair positions waiting to be filled and other committees that can always use support. Your time and effort can always be used, your level of commitment can be as little as one afternoon, one event, or a year long commitment. You can choose what you feel most comfortable and we are so grateful for any help we can get. Please go to our website for more information.
Sincerely,
Olga Bloch
